Early Detection Saves Lives: Breast Cancer Awareness Month at Flagler Free Clinic

October 7, 2026

This October, let's raise awareness, encourage check-ins, and support uninsured adults in our community

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a time to come together, share information, and remind one another that early detection can save lives.

Most of us know someone who has been impacted by breast cancer. And for many people, the hardest part isn't just the fear of a diagnosis it's the uncertainty of where to turn, especially when someone is uninsured.

At Flagler Free Clinic, our mission is to provide quality medical and dental care at no cost to qualifying uninsured adults. And during Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we want to share a simple message: your health matters, and you deserve support.

Awareness starts with action

Breast Cancer Awareness Month is a reminder to take small, proactive steps:

  • Pay attention to changes in your body
  • Talk with a healthcare provider about your personal risk factors
  • Stay on top of recommended screenings
  • Encourage a friend or loved one to do the same

If you've been putting off a check-in because life is busy or because you're worried about cost this month is a good time to pause and prioritize your health.

The real barrier for many adults: cost and access

When someone is uninsured, routine care can feel out of reach. People often delay appointments because they're trying to avoid bills they can't afford.

But delayed care can lead to delayed answers and that can make everything harder.

That's why Flagler Free Clinic exists: to help remove barriers and provide compassionate care with dignity and respect.

How you can help this October

Breast Cancer Awareness Month is also a powerful time to show support for the people in our community who need care the most. Here are a few ways to make an impact:

  • Donate: Your gift supports direct patient care for uninsured adults.
  • Volunteer: Medical and non-medical volunteers help keep our clinic running.
  • Share our message: Awareness grows when we talk about it.
  • Partner with us: Community partnerships strengthen our ability to serve.

Thank you for standing with our community

This October, we're grateful for every person who helps make care possible. Awareness matters. Early action matters. And access to compassionate care matters.
