NAFC Gold Rating Shines on the Flagler Free Clinic

Flagler Free Clinic has earned a 2026 Gold Rating from the National Association of Free and Charitable Clinics (NAFC) Quality Standards Program for the second year in a row. For our patients and our community, this recognition is a meaningful sign that the care we provide is backed by strong standards, consistent processes, and a commitment to quality.

Why this recognition matters

Awards only matter when they reflect real experiences. The NAFC Gold Rating is designed to measure the behind-the-scenes work that helps ensure patients receive safe, reliable, well-managed care.

For uninsured neighbors in Flagler and Volusia counties, that means a clinic they can trust for compassionate care and continuity.

What is the NAFC Gold Rating?

The NAFC supports free and charitable clinics and pharmacies across the country with a mission to build healthier communities through quality, equitable, and accessible healthcare.

To help clinics measure and maintain consistent care, NAFC established a comprehensive set of Quality Standards that member organizations voluntarily adopt and implement. The Gold Rating recognizes clinics that meet rigorous benchmarks across key operational and clinical areas.

What the standards cover

NAFC Quality Standards span critical areas that support both patient care and clinic operations, including:

  • Administrative policies that guide how the clinic runs day to day
  • Clinic and pharmacy responsibilities that support safe, consistent care
  • Credentialing and privileging systems that help ensure qualified providers are serving patients
  • Patient care practices that emphasize quality and continuity
  • Risk management processes that help protect patients, staff, and the organization

These standards aren’t just checklists. They represent the systems that help a clinic serve patients with dignity and consistency—especially when resources are limited and the need is great.

A recognition powered by people

“Earning this recognition two years in a row speaks to the heart of who we are,” said Terri Belletto, Executive Director of the Flagler Free Clinic. “Every volunteer, staff member and supporter plays a role in making sure our patients receive compassionate, high-quality care at no cost. That mission drives everything we do, and this rating confirms we are meeting the standard our community deserves.”

That’s exactly what this moment represents: a community effort.

More than $2 million in care each year

Because of the generosity of donors, volunteers, and community partners, Flagler Free Clinic provides more than $2 million in medical and dental services annually. Behind that number are real people—neighbors who need care, families navigating tough seasons, and individuals who would otherwise have nowhere to turn.

Every appointment and every service helps people stay healthier, stay working, and stay connected to the community.

Thank you for helping us keep going

If you’ve volunteered, donated, shared our posts, referred a patient, or encouraged our team—thank you. This Gold Rating reflects what happens when a community chooses to care for its own.
